Ohio lawmakers are considering a bill that would ensure cash remains an option at checkout for shoppers at stores like Costco, Walmart and Target.
House Bill 554, also called the Currency Access to Spend Here (CASH) Act, would require most businesses to accept cash for any transaction of $500 or less. While cash was once the preferred payment method, some venues now charge more for cash transactions, including certain sporting and entertainment events or tax payments, according to Yahoo Finance. Other stores like Costco and Target do not accept cash at their self-checkout lanes.
