One of the teenagers convicted of killing Fairfield Spanish teacher Nohema Graber will serve 35 years in prison before he's eligible for parole.

The Iowa Supreme Court upheld the sentence given to Willard Miller, who was 16 when he and a friend attacked the 66-year-old Graber because Miller was upset about a bad grade.

Graber’s body was found in a Fairfield park on Nov. 3, 2021, hidden under a tarp, wheelbarrow and railroad ties. Prosecutors say she had been beaten to death with a baseball bat.

Miller and Jeremy Goodale, who was also 16 at the time of the murder, pleaded guilty and received life sentences. A judge ordered Miller to serve 35 years before he is eligible for parole, and 25 years before Goodale is eligible.

Goodale is also appealing his sentence.
