Summer reminder, … hydrate with intention.
More lake days. More sun. More sweat. More golf rounds. More workouts. More alcohol at cookouts and weekends. That means more stress on the body whether you feel it or not.
Most men walk around chronically dehydrated and mistake it for:
-
fatigue
-
brain fog
-
irritability
-
cravings
-
poor sleep
-
headaches
-
low energy
-
even anxiety
Your body is over 60% water. Your brain, muscles, blood flow, joints, nervous system, digestion, hormone signaling, and recovery all depend on hydration and electrolytes working together. When water drops… performance drops. Fast.
One thing I’ve really focused on lately is remembering that hydration isn’t just about survival — it’s about stewardship. Scripture constantly points to water as life, cleansing, renewal, and strength. Jesus called Himself the Living Water for a reason.
“He will be like a tree firmly planted by streams of water…” — Psalm 1:3
That verse hits differently when you realize even modern science confirms it: the body literally thrives when it’s properly nourished with water, minerals, sunlight, movement, and recovery.
A few practical reminders for this summer:
-
Drink water BEFORE coffee.
-
Add electrolytes when sweating heavily.
-
Alcohol dehydrates far more than most people realize.
-
Don’t wait until you’re thirsty — thirst is a lagging indicator.
-
Get your kids drinking more water too.
-
Use quality salt and minerals consistently.
One new takeaway from the research that surprised me years ago: even mild dehydration can raise cortisol and increase mental stress response. In other words… sometimes you don’t need another motivational video or supplement. You simply need water, minerals, sleep, prayer, and sunlight.
Simple things. Ancient things. God-designed things.
Hydrate like a man preparing for battle, not recovering from one. Stay sharp this summer, Happy Warriors.
