We the people don’t ask a lot; we ask for honesty, integrity, accountability, and leadership unclouded by denial and deceit. Anything less is simply unacceptable. In a recent interview with CBS Morning News, former First Lady Jill Biden took to the airwaves and adamantly denied any signs of cognitive decline in President Joe Biden towards the end of his presidency. When asked bluntly by the interviewer whether she saw signs of Joe Biden “falling into cognitive decline,” her answer was a definitive “no.”
Jill Biden’s barefaced denial is not only laughable, it’s offensive to anyone with half a brain, and a pair of eyes and ears. Her adamant “no” is a shameless lie meant to obscure the harsh reality and of course pimp her forthcoming book, “View from the East Wing.” But let’s call this what it really is; a brazen cover-up by her and the entire White House inner circle; and of course, the useful idiot mainstream media.
The truth, however inconvenient is that Joe Biden showed unmistakable signs of cognitive decline for years, with multiple gaffes, slurred speeches, talking to dead people, and confusion during press conferences. The now infamous 2024 debate with Donald Trump clearly was not a one-off as Doctor Jill proclaims. Jill’s claim of “no signs of impairment” blatantly dismisses the multitude of moments when the former president appeared confused, lost his train of thought, or mixed-up names and places on a routine basis.
Her denial is more than infuriating, it’s insulting. How dare she and the White House staffers deliberately conceal something of this magnitude from the American people. It’s as if they think we were all too stupid to connect the dots between Joe Biden’s deteriorating mental state and his complete lack of acuity. Simply put, they treated the American people as if they were children that couldn’t handle the truth.
But there’s a bigger toll this premeditated dishonesty takes on democracy itself. America is supposed to be the gold standard of freedom and democracy on the world stage, a glaring example of ethical standards and utter transparency. A president’s cognitive health is not a trivial matter; it’s a fundamental requirement for the leader of the free world. Yet, instead of admitting the obvious, Jill and her cronies opted for the route of half-truths and outright lies, effectively gaslighting some of the American people into believing otherwise.
The mere fact that the entire Biden White House inner circle echoed the lie repeatedly only deepens the sense of betrayal. The coordinated silence, denials, and “no comments” were a deliberate attempt to deceive the American public. The American people were fed crafted narratives to maintain an illusion of competence, bolstered by the media during an election cycle; even as reality kicked down the door of deception.
Then there’s the aftermath; the swift replacement of a sitting president mid-campaign. Kamala Harris marching in without a single primary vote wasn’t a stroke of genius, it was an unambiguous admission of guilt by her and the other coconspirators. At any time, Joe Biden could have simply retired gracefully, and with dignity, but instead he allowed himself to be pushed out in disgrace after making a mockery of the oval office.
It’s simply maddening to see the entire administration, including the first lady try to rewrite history in her new book and mask what everyone saw with their own eyes. Joe Biden’s cognitive abilities failed him in the most public and consequential way imaginable; and those closest to him bear most of the blame. They are also responsible for allowing it to happen, and for prioritizing political power over the wellness of a nation. This proves once again that sometimes the greatest threat to democracy comes not from external enemies, but from within.
In the end, the only thing that mattered to the burgeoning novelist Jill Biden and her supporting cast was maintaining political power. The legacy of the 2024 Trump/Biden debate shouldn’t only be about an incapacitated president utterly embarrassing himself on the world stage; it should also be about a network of corrupt individuals that allowed this to happen. When lies and deceit take precedence over transparency in the people’s house, the integrity of the oval office erodes.
