In recent months, we’ve witnessed an alarming trend that should send chills down the spines of every rational American. The Democrat party’s growing acceptance and continued encouragement of political violence isn’t just a fringe issue anymore; it’s become their sickening norm, and it’s time we call it out for what it is, and confront it head on.
Just days after the tragic assassination of Turning Point’s Charlie Kirk, a brutal act that should have united us all in condemnation, Democrat Attorney General hopeful Jay Jones of Virginia decided to take center stage with another appalling display of violent rhetoric aimed at the Republican Speaker of the Virginia House of Delegates. Jones detailed in a series of text messages to Rep. Carrie Coyner about hypothetically shooting then House Speaker Todd Gilbert in the head with two bullets. Coyer has confirmed that Jones sent her the violently abhorrent text messages, replying, “Jay, please stop!”
Jones’s precise comments were: “Three people, two bullets. Gilbert, Hitler, and Pol Pot. Gilbert gets two bullets to the head. Spoiler: put Gilbert in the crew with the two worst people you know, and he receives both bullets every time.” His comments are not just despicable regarding his political opponents, they’re indicative of a violent mob that has completely lost its moral compass. We can no longer simply shrug this off as just another instance of the left’s failure to appreciate the gravity of their words, and the impact it has on its base.
This isn’t an isolated incident; it’s part of a much broader narrative where Democrats are normalizing violent rhetoric against people they disagree with. Just in the last year, we’ve witnessed political assassinations, presidential assassination attempts, Christian church and school shootings, murders of Republican interns, a resurrection of antisemitism, and anti-police rhetoric placing every law-enforcement officer and military service member in grave danger. It’s infuriating to watch these Democrat leaders sow the seeds of hostility and division, all while pretending to champion civility and political discourse. Their duplicity knows no bounds.
The threat of this continued rhetoric cannot be overstated. When political figures invoke violent imagery or language, they are essentially giving permission for followers to act out real-life scenarios. We’ve seen a multitude of incidents spurred by the leftist incendiary rhetoric, particularly over the last decade. Rep. Steve Scalise being gunned down at a softball game, kidnappers showing up at Supreme Court Justice Brett Kavanaghs home with firearms, duct tape, hand cuffs and rope, and of course the assignation of Charlie Kirk; none of these are one-offs, it’s a clear pattern of deliberate conduct.
Let’s be perfectly clear, this isn’t both political parties participating in political violence, it’s the Democrats alone. Everything they do or say has dire consequences with their radical base. It’s indicative of a systemic issue within a party that seems more interested in silencing dissenters than engaging in constructive dialogue. It’s as if they’ve forgotten the basic tenets of democracy; namely, that political disagreement is a vital part our constitutional republic, and never a justification for violence.
If we are to believe that democracy thrives on dialogue and debate, how do we reconcile the fact that prominent Democrats are outwardly calling for violence rather than discussion? Where is the outcry from the other Democrats and the so-called party leaders denouncing such remarks from Jay Jones? Would you believe he hasn’t lost one endorsement from the Democrat political establishment? Instead, we are met with a collective yawn when it comes to holding fellow party members accountable. That should tell you everything about these people.
Political debate should inspire thought, challenge ideas, and encourage a robust and healthy dialogue. As American citizens we must demand all political figures, regardless of political affiliation engage in responsible communication and discourse with one another and our constituencies. The violent rhetoric from Jay Jones is not simply a slip of the tongue, it’s a reflection of a larger cancer growing within the Democrat establishment. This should not be ignored or glossed over, our democracy deserves better than people like Jay Jones and his ilk.
It’s incumbent upon voters to recognize the implications of supporting candidates who endorse or remain silent about violent rhetoric. We need to ask ourselves, what kind of America do we want to live in? An America where political differences are settled with hostility and bloodshed; or one where civil discourse prevails? The choice is a simple one but requires vigilance and commitment to reject political candidates that propagate dangerous ideology.
