Tennessee voters rally behind Trump following conviction

The poll from the conservative Beacon Center covered other hot topic questions like inflation, whether the government should issue tax credits for a discussed Major League Baseball stadium in Nashville and if political correctness is ruining comedy.

The poll was taken before Trump survived an assassination attempt Saturday during a rally Saturday in Pennsylvania.

The survey lands at a critical juncture in presidential politics as Democrats openly discuss Biden's fitness to remain in the race and as Trump's nears his pick for a vice presidential nominee. The lead question in the poll regards Trump's conviction in New York criminal court, which found him guilty on 34 charges of falsifying documents. Nearly 1,000 likely voters responded, with 34% saying they were more likely to vote for Trump, 22% were less likely and 40% were unmoved.
