SEATTLE — The city of Seattle will miss its self-imposed deadline. There will be no new drug possession law, even after a rejected vote, a task force and a compromise measure.

Those are all facts after Seattle Mayor Bruce Harrell suggested he’d bridged a deal to enforce the new state gross misdemeanor law, with more than $20 million in extra money for diversion programs and an executive order outlining clear guidance for enforcement.

That was back on July 31.
