Oh the irony, oh the hypocrisy

Congresswoman Pramila Jayapal is now finally the victim she always claims to be. She is also now the beneficiary of the system she wants to destroy.

Her neighbors say a lunatic named Brett Allen Forsell threatened to kill the congresswoman after yelling, “Go back to India,” according to SPD. Police responded quickly and arrested him. A judge called it a hate crime and held him on $500,000 bail.

Harassment at someone’s house, in any shape, goes too far. I only wish Jayapal believed that, too.

Jayapal was one of the 27 progressives who voted against the bill that enhanced security for supreme court justices. The assassination plot against Justice Brett Kavanaugh did not matter to her.

When she calls 911, she gets a swift response, but for years we’ve heard her say things like, “Where do we want to invest our money? Given the desperation of people right now, the number of people who are homeless, the number of people who don’t have any safety net at all, I think it is very important to look at this in that context,” Jayapal said to KUOW. “It is completely reasonable for us to shift significant resources from law enforcement and invest in people.”

These days $500,000 bail is a lot, but she has said, “People should not lose their jobs or their homes because they are incarcerated while they await a fair trial. Families should not have to choose between putting [up] bail for a loved one or putting food on the table or paying rent.”

What do a quick police response, a serious judge, and high bail all have in common? All policy positions under Jayapal’s Progressive Party Caucus she has voted against. To paraphrase Sarah Palin, “How’s that working out for you?”
