Someone at a campaign rally in Reno, Nevada, only had to shout out the word ''gun!'' for pandemonium to break loose and for the Secret Service to rush onstage and hustle Donald Trump away to safety.

It turned out the incident centered on a lone protestor, later identified as Austyn Crites, who was holding a placard that read 'Republicans Against Trump.' Harried by the pro-Trump crowd, he was apprehended by police after someone shouted he was armed with the gun, sending the crowd helter-skelter.

Crites turned out to be unarmed and was later released. But the incident illustrated just how fraught this election, and the many imponderables and variables that will affect the outcome is as it winds down to the last few hours of campaigning.

One of the great unknowns is just how many Republicans are anti-Trump and whether they will vote for Hillary Clinton. Or for that matter, just how many Democrats are anti-Hillary, and intend to vote for Trump.

Whichever way you put it, most elections are about guns and butter (security and economy), and this is no different. The anti-Trump Republicans are rather more vocal than anti-Hillary Democrats, and going by anecdotal evidence, the latter could well be termed the silent killers of Hillary's historic march to the White House. Here's how.
