Jeff Bezos Founded Amazon in the Garage of This Washington State Home. It Just Bagged a Buyer.

A month after hitting the market, the unassuming home in Bellevue, Washington, that was the birthplace of Amazon has already bagged a buyer.

Billionaire Jeff Bezos, 60, founded the firm—now one of the largest and most valuable companies in the world—in the property’s garage in 1994, initially as an online marketplace for books.

Bezos reportedly rented the home for $890 a month, and outfitted the garage sparsely with a desk, computer and basic office supplies, according to Amazon, which recently recreated the space.

The three-bedroom home, which is some 20 minutes from downtown Seattle, hit the market in mid January for $2.29 million. It was pending sale as of Wednesday.
