Prosecutors have charged a Chicago man with robbing an Uber driver while on electronic monitoring for an attempted murder charge. Dashaun Glover, 22, was on the ankle monitor while awaiting trial for allegedly shooting a food delivery driver on the Ontario feeder ramp in October 2021.
The victim had just completed a food delivery in River North and was headed toward the expressway with his girlfriend riding in the passenger seat when he was shot early on October 17, 2021.
Chicago police surveillance cameras recorded footage of a silver Audi SUV following the driver’s car for several blocks before both vehicles headed onto the expressway ramp, prosecutors said. The Audi pulled alongside the delivery driver, and a man began firing at the victim from the Audi’s front passenger seat.
Three bullets struck the victim’s lower back. Other rounds hit his hand and grazed his neck. According to prosecutors, bullet holes were found on both sides of the victim’s car, as well as its rear and windows.
Police arrested Glover the next afternoon as he allegedly rode in a stolen Audi with three other men. The cops found four guns inside the car, and prosecutors charged Glover with possessing one of them. They filed attempted murder charges two months later. Judge Maryam Ahmad set Glover’s bail at $150,000.
Unable to raise the 10% deposit he needed to get out of jail, Glover sat behind bars until late last year. That’s when his attorney, citing provisions of the SAFE-T Act, asked Judge Arthur Willis to release Glover on an ankle monitor, according to court records.
