'America’s militia' by Vincent

In a time when news headlines continually scream about violence, chaos, and despair, it’s utterly infuriating that we find ourselves in this ongoing saga where heroic acts are brushed under the rug, and heroes find themselves vilified or ignored.  Such is the case regarding what actually happened at a Michigan Christian church recently, a story that never saw the light of day in our so-called mainstream media.
 
The story goes like this; a gunman armed with an AR-15 style rifle, possessing more than a dozen fully loaded magazines, a semi-automatic handgun with an extended magazine, and hundreds of rounds of ammunition, threatened innocent lives during a church service, ready to unleash unspeakable carnage, but was thwarted by swift acting church goers and its security team.
 
America’s cultural landscape is littered with good people taking decisive action to protect themselves and others, only to have their stories of bravery buried beneath the incessant drone of negativity propagated by the mainstream press.  It seems apparent that a good guy with a gun does not fit the progressive narrative and does not warrant public recognition.
 
Just imagine a peaceful congregation, gathered for worship, enjoying a peaceful Sunday assembly with family, when all hell breaks out.  In a split second, ordinary citizens transform into extraordinary defenders of the flock.  They don’t hide behind trees, or wait for the police to show up, they intervene to protect both their loved ones and God’s community.  But instead of celebrating this example of heroism, they’re met with a collective yawn from the mainstream media.
 
So, it begs the question, why are acts of valor, where normal citizens save lives, basically swept under the rug as if they never happened?  Simply put, it’s because they contradict the progressive mantra that guns are inherently evil.  Let me put it this way; if this had turned out differently, and innocent blood was spilled all over the sidewalks, and numerous lives were lost, you would have seen wall to wall coverage on the big three and cable networks.  The media would have a field day parroting the tragedy through its mouth pieces.
 
The truth is the media cannot tolerate nor endorse responsible gun ownership.  The mere thought of citizens standing their ground in emergency situations threatens the progressive utopian gun control vision.  The so-called experts and talking heads instead warn us about the dangers of “vigilantism” while ignoring the statistics that overwhelmingly show that legal gun ownership saves countless lives. 
 
Make no mistake about it, the progressive message serves to disempower the individual.  They’ve made it crystal clear; you must rely on the government, trust the system, and believe you are powerless.  As we dig a little deeper, we can see how this contributes to a culture of helplessness.  It fuels the narrative that American citizens are incapable of protecting themselves and must hide behind flawed progressive ideology. 
 
The next time you’re scrolling through news channels and see yet another headline glorifying tragedy, ask yourself these questions.  Could a good guy with a gun have made the difference between life and death?  Could ordinary citizens have prevented the tragic narrative currently being peddled by the mainstream media?  In almost every case, the answer is yes. 
 
Thankfully, legal gun owners are America’s “well-regulated militia,” and “necessary to the security of a free state.”  Our founders memorialized these words for a reason; it’s time we force the acknowledgment of what truly matters and eliminate any confusion.  America’s constitution gives this inalienable right and responsibility to the citizen, not to the government.
