University of Washington President Ana Mari Cauce released another statement Wednesday afternoon addressing the recent disruptions that stemmed from the pro-Palestinian encampment on campus.

This is the second statement that UW has released regarding the encampment within five days, and it directly addressed the offensive graffiti that was seen across nearly 30 buildings on the school's campus Wednesday morning. UW continued to say the language used in the graffiti is creating an "unwelcome and fearful environment for many students."

While I strongly support free speech and peaceful protest, I also strongly support the rights of all our community members to live, learn and work without fear," wrote Cauce in the statement. "I want to thank our Office of Campus Community Safety, UW Facilities and state and local partners for supporting our community despite challenging circumstances, including two very tense counter-protests.

The university has been home to a “liberated zone” encampment for more than three weeks to protest the conflict in Gaza.
