The deal was announced by Salem Media Group, which sold off The Fish and Christian radio stations in six other markets as part of a debt-clearance move. The Fish will join Electronic Media Foundation's properties and, according to a Salem release, EMF will begin operating 104.7 on Feb. 1.
It's unclear how 104.7 branding and programming will fully be affected going forward, but the hosts of The Kevin & Taylor Show, Taylor Scott and Kevin Avery, have already announced their program would end Jan. 31.
By all indications, Electronic Media Foundation will continue Christian programming on 104.7 (call signal WFSH-FM) , as The Kevin & Taylor Show post noted the hosts "are so grateful Christian music will continue on 104.7 and in other cities where you hear us."
"We are so incredibly honored that we had the privilege of bringing you 'Good, Clean, Fun' and doing life with you for 24 years," they posted on Instagram. "...We've heard nothing but good things about the company who is taking over."
In a statement posted to LinkedIn, EMF's interim CEO Tom Stultz said The Fish and the other six stations just purchased would "expand our coverage area and help us deliver on our mission to reach more people with the Gospel of Jesus Christ."
"We feel it is an incredible opportunity to continue serving listeners with Christian music in these important markets," Stultz said.
Salem's executive chairman and co-founder Edward G. Atsinger said, for their part, they "could not be more delighted that the buyer is EMF."
"EMF has demonstrated over many years a unique ability and dedication to creating and distributing the highest quality Christian music content to its listeners in a positive and encouraging way," Atsinger said. "I am confident that their impact on listeners and their communities will be incredibly effective.”
