SEATTLE — The Seattle-Tacoma International Airport (SEA) will receive more than $10 million from a nearly $1 billion federal grant awarded to airport projects across the country.
The Biden administration announced it is awarding $970 million for improvement projects at 114 airports Thursday. The funding comes from a $5 billion grant program meant to modernize airports including concourses, baggage handling and new terminals.
The $10.4 million awarded to SEA will fund a portion of the widening of the arrivals terminal road by two lanes. The project also includes realignment of the departures access road, installations of lights, signage, storm drainage, utility relocation, new “intelligent transportation systems” and a rental car shuttle stop.
The arrivals/departure roadway improvements are a part of the airport’s capital improvement projects.
