Washington, D.C. (June 9th, 2025) – Today, U.S. Congressman Tim Burchett’s bill, the “Tennessee Valley Authority Transparency Act of 2025” passed on the floor of the United States House of Representatives.
“For too long, TVA has made major business decisions behind closed doors. I am proud to stand up for transparency at TVA,” said Rep. Burchett.
The TVA Transparency Act requires all meetings to be held in public, and mandates they give the public seven days’ notice of meetings online. The TVA Transparency Act also provides reasonable exceptions for litigation, personnel issues, and matters that, if disclosed, would compromise TVA’s competitiveness.
"This bill will help restore the public’s trust in the Tennessee Valley Authority. TVA serves dozens of congressional districts across seven different states. It is time to give residents, businesses, and Congress information on the actions by TVA.”
