The investigation into a deadly explosion — led by the FBI and deemed "an intentional act of terrorism" — at the site of a Palm Springs fertility clinic Saturday is focused on a "person of interest" identified by the FBI on Sunday asGuy Edward Bartkus, 25, of Twentynine Palms.
This is "one of the largest bombing investigations we've had in Southern California," Akil Davis, assistant director of the Los Angeles FBI field office, said Saturday of the car explosion near the American Reproductive Centers clinic on North Indian Canyon Drive at East Tachevah Drive.
"We are fairly confident that Mr. Bartkus is our primary person of interest," Davis said. "We are working through other technical means to positively identify the decedent here but what we believe at this moment based on the evidence we've gathered is that is Mr. Bartkus."
