As the holiday season approaches, it’s a good time to make sure you have paid or have a plan for your Buncombe County property tax bill. Now that County offices have reopened; the Tax Department is available for in-person payments and parking is available at the lot located across the street from 94 Coxe Ave.

Please be aware: North Carolina law does not allow property tax waivers or exceptions due to natural disasters. Regardless of circumstances stemming from Hurricane Helene, property taxes are still due by Jan. 6. The Tax Office is here to help you figure out a plan, so please contact us as soon as possible.

Property tax bills that are due now are levied on the value of property as of January 1, 2024, the listing date. Damage to property that occurs after January 1 will be reflected in the taxable value of that property for the following year’s taxes.

The Tax Office is open Monday-Friday from 8 a.m.-5 p.m. and below you can find information on alternative ways to pay your tax bill, setting up a payment plan, and more. For FAQs about the tax bills and hurricane-related tax information, click here.
