State Treasurer Vivek Malek, Republican lawmakers and Lt. Gov. David Wasinger announced on Tuesday a new plan aimed at undocumented immigrants.
Two identical bills filed in Missouri would prohibit undocumented immigrants from sending money through remittance services if passed.
In the house, Rep. Ben Keathley (R-Dist. 101) filed the bill. The Senate version came from State Sen. Nick Schroer (R-Dist. 2).
“We want to drive these illegal immigrants out of here,” Lt. Gov. Wasinger said. “They overwhelm our hospitals. They overwhelm our schools.”
