Lainey Wilson, 33, reflected on her journey in music in the trailer for Lainey Wilson: Keepin’ Country Cool. Though “a lot of people think that this was an overnight success,” the reigning Country Music Association Entertainer of the Year had been working for 14 years in Nashville, Tennessee. Wilson called herself “a 14-year overnight success,” who “spent a decade being the one you didn’t see coming.”
“I remember at 5 years old, feeling more comfortable on stage than I do anywhere else,” Wilson said. “I was going and playing at random things. I played on top of an air conditioning unit. My payment was free hot dogs the rest of my entire life. That is one of the biggest flexes I will ever have.”

The Grammy-winning artist went on to talk about her fiancé, Devlin “Duck” Hodges, and the couple’s future family plans, plus scenes from her tour, her music and more (though she admits, “I don’t have my s*** all together”). Wilson said, “people keep saying country’s cool again. Well, I say it never stopped being cool. The world just caught up.”
“I couldn’t be more excited that this documentary is going to be on Netflix,” Wilson said in a statement when the documentary was announced earlier this year. “This was such a special project to make, and I hope that folks who watch it see that no dream is too big and that staying true to who you are will always lead you exactly where you’re meant to be.”
