SEATTLE — Compassion and concern are gripping a north Seattle neighborhood where a homeless camp recently took up residence.
A recreational vehicle first showed up a week and a half ago, parking on Phinney Ave N and N 125th St in the Bitter Lake neighborhood. Now there are a couple more tents, a collection of shopping carts and other assorted clutter stacked up along the side of the road.
Ivan Montes, one of the people at the small encampment, said he has no place else to go, no job and uses fentanyl and methamphetamine as often as he can. Ivan said he does his best to keep to himself and not antagonize any neighbors.
“They just kick us out anywhere we go. There's just no place to stay,” Montes said. “I don't get any help from nobody. I just survive by myself."
