It comes just days after a metro Atlanta-based superior court judge ruled that the law was unconstitutional and could no longer be enforced.
Georgia's attorney general appealed that ruling, and asked that the law be reinstated during the appeals process.
Gov. Brian Kemp had signed the measure in 2019 but legal challenges kept it from taking effect until 2022.
