'Fishers of Men' by Gigi

While spending a Saturday on the boat with my family relaxing and catching some big fish. I got to thinking, what is the big fascination with fishing? ( other than for the obvious reason like feeding our hunger)

Is it being out on the water at one with nature? When we are born our bodies are like 83% water which explains some.

It’s peaceful, except in a storm.

It’s a thrill when you catch something for sure. Or maybe it’s a gamble every time you cast your reel in the water you never know what you are going to get. It’s the thrill of what’s down in the deep that might bite that hook.

No matter what it is we have been fishing since the beginning.

What did Jesus mean when He said “I want you to be fishers of men”?

Did He want the apostles to get so invested in him that people all around would get hooked and want what they had caught? Then reel them in and get them in the boat wanting to be Christ like. “Live for me,” Jesus said.

Let Love be so contagious that you get caught up in the net of love.

Being fishers of men means you are open to people in need. You can guide them, pray for them, feed them, just be a light in anyway to them. "Feed a man a fish and he will eat for a day, teach him to fish and he will eat for life", our Saviour said.

Bottom line, we need to be open to God working through us even sometimes in spite of us and let Him work through us. That is what it means to be fishers of men to me.

Gigi's fish preperation

There is no fresher way to eat fish then to cook what you have caught for the day but if you don’t have that opportunity, you can buy fish fillets from the grocery store and really any kind of fish you prefer.
