Dollywood employee injured, airlifted to hospital days before park opens for the season

The employee was tended to by on-site paramedics before being flown to a local medical facility, Dollywood spokesperson Wes Ramey said.

Ramey did not comment on how the employee was hurt, or how severe the injuries might be.

"At this time, our priority is supporting our employee and gathering information," Ramey said. "An update will be provided if information becomes available to share."

Dollywood is among the largest employers in East Tennessee, according to the East Tennessee Economic Development Agency. The amusement park has between 1,000 and 5,000 staffers. The park hires hundreds of new employees each season.
