Conviction of a con man

It’s hard to tell what’s in the heart of another human being, but sometimes we do get a chance to see deep inside.  This can be a great opportunity to see wondrous things like, kindness, love, friendship, and many other positive attributes of our fellow man.  However, it can also be a moment in time to see despicable people whose only motivation in this life is selfishness and egotism.

As the jury in the Jussie Smollett case provided guilty verdicts in every count except one, the once famous actor will now be infamous for another reason.  Jussie’s claim to fame at this point will be reserved for his appalling conduct and attempt to undermine civility in his own community.  Any good he might have possibly done given his entitled circumstances, have been wiped away in one incredibly self-serving moment.

During a tumultuous time in our history, Jussie thought perhaps he should enter the fray and pour gasoline on a smoldering fire.  It’s hard to fathom what went through his head at the time, as he planned, plotted and executed a staged hate crime in Chicago, Illinois.  The idea of hiring people within his circle to stage a racist and homophobic assault, on not just himself, but on civility in the community that had embraced him; makes his behavior especially offensive.

Even after being caught and confronted with the evidence that this fake hate crime never occurred, Jussie decided to double-down with his fabrications.  Taking to the airwaves and news channels, spinning his same maniacal tale.  At no time did this young man ever show remorse or shame.  As a matter of fact, Jussie threatened to sue the city of Chicago and the police department in hopes of suppressing further inquiries.

The now disgraced actor stood outside the courthouse after his conviction and proclaimed, “I’ve been truthful and consistent on every single level since day one.”  “This has been an incredibly difficult time, honestly one of the worst of my entire life.”  His lack of remorse gives some dark insight into this narcissistic and disturbed individual.

I give tons of credit to then Chicago Mayor Rahm Emmanuel (D) for having the courage to demand a special investigator, after the George Soro’s funded Cook County State’s Attorney Kim Foxx attempted to dismiss all the charges against Smollett in a brazen attempt to subvert justice.  I’m quite sure she will be rewarded with a cabinet appointment in the Biden administration.

The next question we all need to ask, is how many cases went without intervention while police chased Jussie’s fake tale?  How many people were victimized in the already violent city, because police were utilizing precious resources to chase a fictitious villain?  Chicago is no stranger to violence, and in many cases leads the United States in too many categories to recite.  Yet, Jussie Smollett sought to add to the division in our society by further dividing racial lines.

I don’t expect the fake news media to give too much coverage to Smollett, they would prefer he just go away at this point; it doesn’t fit the woke mantra they continue to peddle.  They sucked up the “MAGA hat wearing Trump supporters at 2 AM” story like a brand-new Hoover deluxe vacuum.  Egg on their faces is an everyday occurrence at this point, but that’s not news to anyone.

A lengthy jail sentence is appropriate for the atrocious conduct committed by the disgraced Empire star.  Mercy is for the repentant, not the repugnant.
