If last week’s opinion editorial sounded the alarm, (America’s Left-Wing Militants), this week’s is asking a more uncomfortable question. How much of the left’s political hostilities didn’t just spiral out of control but were knowingly tolerated on the way there? I couldn’t help pondering on how long this escalation of political violence, along with the calculated indifference from those who should know better has gone on.
The recent indictment of former FBI director James Comey for his “86-47” social media message, and the arrest of the January 6th 2021 pipe bomb suspect (another radical Democrat), reminded me how deep-rooted the one-sided fomentation of political violence truly is; and warrants further scrutiny. No more reading from the script with the usual Democrat playbook commentary, “there’s no place in politics for violence.” Political violence doesn’t materialize out of thin air, it grows in an environment where extremism is rewarded, amplified, and then conveniently excused.
I think it’s fair to say that we can all agree that violence against anyone is unacceptable. However, political violence, or targeting someone’s political beliefs, is especially repugnant and rightfully considered an existential threat to our democratic values. Over the last ten years or so, conservative figures have been disproportionally targeted for assassination or other acts of violence by extreme left-wing radicals.
In 2017, Representative Steve Scalise, then a rising star within the Republican party was critically wounded after he and other Republican lawmakers were shot during the annual baseball game between Republicans and Democrats, a decades old tradition of sportsmanship, non-partisan unity, and patriotic camaraderie. The shooter, another radical Democrat opened fire on Republican lawmakers but was quickly neutralized by DC police; but only after critically wounding Congressman Steve Scalise and injuring several others.
Scalise’s attacker was motivated and influenced by the same pervasive and polarizing rhetoric that demonizes conservative voices throughout America today. Over the past decade or so, a distressing pattern in American politics has emerged. From the President of the United States to Supreme Court Justices, just like Scalise, they’ve become targets of murder attempts, countless death threats, and other forms of violent acts. Yet despite the alarming trend, the same progressive Democrat faction that fuels much of the incendiary rhetoric seems content to wave it off as simple political differences.
The parallels of the 2026 White House Correspondents Dinner, and the Annual Bipartisan Congressional Baseball Game in 2017 are eerily similar despite there being over a decade between violent attacks. This shows a long-term concerted effort and commitment to weaponize the fringe Marxist zealots within the Democrat party to dehumanize conservatives and create a quasi-call to arms. None of these actions were random; they were a direct result of the Marxist media’s amplification of the radical left’s elected leaders.
Every one of the bad actors over the last decade was clearly motivated by Marxist progressive ideology; and emboldened by the complicit mainstream media. Many of the manifestos left behind by these politically radicalized nut jobs spell it out quite clearly. The left’s reckless theatrics have twisted the minds of both young and old and the results are real-world consequences; Charlie Kirk’s assassination being one of the most glaring examples.
Kirk’s outspoken conservative Godly stance and his ability to connect with young people, Republican, Democrat, and Independent alike, made him an especially desirable target for the Marxist progressive sponsored rancor, which is designed to sew discord and distrust amongst an already politically fractured nation.
If Democrats and their allies truly cared about the safety and unity of this country, they would recognize the power of their words and act accordingly. Instead, party leaders like Hakeem Jeffries and Chuck Schumer continue to double-down on the violent rhetoric of stoking anger whenever possible. When people are told repeatedly that their political opponents are dictators and evil, the leap from outrage to violent justification gets shorter. Not for most people, but it doesn’t take most people, it just takes one.
