'Christmas is not just another holiday' by Vincent

Well friends, another year has passed, and the Christmas season is upon us once again.  As Christians we rejoice and give thanks for the birth of Jesus Christ our Lord and Savior.  This is a time for everyone to celebrate and appreciate their families, friends and loved ones. It also presents an opportunity for us to reflect on our own lives and how we can show kindness, love, and compassion to those around us.

For Christians, the Christmas season has always been centered around love, compassion and giving.  As Christians we believe in celebrating the birth of our Savior; and we rejoice and give thanks for His eternal gift of love and all it encompasses.  The story of Jesus’ life is a beautiful and incredible account of love and sacrifice.

Jesus came to this earth and became man to show us God’s love and mercy.  Christianity has become a worldwide faith for billions of people because Christ was born among us.  “God so loved the world that He gave His only Son, so that everyone who believes in him might not perish but have eternal life” (John 3:16).  Arguably the most well-known verse in the bible is also the one describing the essence of our relationship with Jesus.

Christmas has become a part of our world’s history. The Christmas story has inspired people throughout the centuries to love and care for one another.  The power of the Christmas message reaches across borders, races, and religions.  Over 160 countries officially observe Christmas as a public holiday, with over 80% of them celebrating on December 25th.

As Christians, we are all called to love both God and our neighbor. Christianity throughout the world is the religion of the poor and powerless, the marginalized and downtrodden; and all those that seek mercy and forgiveness.  In a world that seems to get darker by the day, we are reminded to be the light which illuminates the path to redemption and everlasting life.

This Christmas, let us commit ourselves to creating a world where people can live in peace and harmony. Let us work towards creating an environment in which every child can grow up happy and healthy without fear of war or poverty. A world where people can live in dignity, free from discrimination and persecution because of their faith or beliefs.

Let us pledge to uphold the values that make our religion great. Individual freedom, equality for all irrespective of race, color, or creed; respect for human life, and justice for all regardless of who you are or where you come from.  Also, let’s commit to reminding ourselves that it’s not our job as Christians to fix everything around us, but rather to love one another, fully and unconditionally.

Merry Christmas everyone
With much love,
The Cavaleri Family
