A bill authorizing the use of the death penalty for convicted child rapists has been signed by Gov. Bill Lee.
It will go into effect on July 1 after Lee signed it into law on May 9.

“As introduced, authorizes the death penalty as a punishment for rape of a child, aggravated rape of a child, or especially aggravated rape of a child,” the bill reads.
