POULSBO – After some pushback, Poulsbo City Council members gave approval on Wednesday night to a Pride month display that will go up along Front Street in the downtown area during the month of June.
Council member Britt Livdahl has championed the idea and said she asked Mayor Becky Erickson to bring the item up as a formal agenda item for council members to consider.
Said Erickson: “What I’m looking for is consensus around this issue. I received some pretty tough phone calls from various people saying not to do this, and I said, ‘Well, this is a policy decision, this isn’t my call.’ If there’s objections, this is where those objections are aired. I need direction as to which way we should go.”
The council discussion concluded with a four-person majority in favor of the display.
