24-time convicted felon arrested in deadly downtown stabbing

A 24-time convicted felon has been taken into custody by Spokane Police for allegedly stabbing a person more than a dozen times and killing them.

46-year-old Steven White was arrested for 1st-degree murder on Saturday.

Last weekend, Spokane Police responded to the report of a body at the intersection of Wall Street and West Railroad Avenue in downtown Spokane.

44-year-old Shan Anderson appeared to have multiple traumatic injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene.

According to police, they were able to view video footage and called it a "seemingly unprovoked assault."

The video showed Anderson lying down when the suspect, White, approached and stabbed Anderson multiple times.

Police say White has a lengthy criminal history and is a 24-time convicted felon.

His previous crimes include residential burglary, rioting with a deadly weapon, robbery, assault, and theft.

White also had an active arrest warrant.
